Adele. Oh Adele.

I went to the Adele concert at the Gallivan Center in SLC with the husband. Adele is my favourite, like has been for the past few years. Her music speaks to me. I love the simple acoustics, the abundance of piano and guitar, the gritty range in her voice and the heartache she sings about, there is something compelling about the raw emotion she sings with.

Right now you’re thinking, where did this person come from? This is not the usual tone in this blog.
I’m deep,sometimes, don’t hate.

Sometimes it’s important to convey the passion you feel about something, I feel passionate about Adele, often moved to tears … nah, I’m kidding. That was an over exaggeration, but I love her music, back on topic.

I screamed when the first song was Hometown Glory, a fav of mine. And then she sang Rumor Has It, My Same, Set Fire To The Rain, Turning Tables, Make you Feel My Love,  Don’t You Remember, One and Only, Right As Rain, a couple of covers, and not in that order.
I asked the hubs to record the entire rendition of Chasing Pavements and Someone Like You, because it’s brilliant when someone can belt out a song with so much anguish, be completely absorbed in the performance, then laugh and joke the minute it’s done, which she did perfectly.

We only paid $25 for the concert, originally this concert was supposed to be at The Depot two months ago but it was cancelled because she had laryngitis, so promoters jacked up the price another $25 for the postponed concert, STEAL FOR US!

I'm not sure when this love affair began, or if it will end, some may believe it is unhealthy, I think a dose of obsession does the soul a little bit of good. I look forward to 23, Adele.

RECOMMENDATION: If she is in your town, get tickets early, because it sells out fast. Maybe get a few extra, people were selling their tickets for up to 4 times the face value.

Katy Perry Sweetness

My sister (Mims) our friend/model Unicorn and I went to Katy Perry at ESA on Pioneer Day, a sweet state holiday courtesy of Utah.
We had discussed, months ago, getting some pin-up girl get ups and going to the concert all dressed up delicious like, but being the procrastinators we are, we all ended up buying hoochie dresses the day of.
IMPORTANT: Dressing up/hype is awesome. It should be embraced with love.
We ended up being overdressed, since most of the people we saw dressed up looked more like Snookie than Katy Perry.
IMPORTANT: Just coz it fits, doesnt mean you should wear it ;)
As a complete show it was great. There was a story theme that ran throughout the whole show, which consisted of her looking for her kitty, climbing through a vent in her wall, then coming out in candyland and going to a ball to see the baker’s boy.
The candyland theme and colors ran throughout the show, it was cheesy, poppy and fun.
What surprised me? She could SING! I expected her to be flat, pitchy, not as good, but I was pleasantly surprised.
HIGHLIGHTS:
·         The randomness of her eating a pot brownie and getting all wasted as part of her “ACT”
·         The cartoon video montage of cheesy love playing in the back during “Not Like the Movies”
·         The ridiculously huge beachballs, large amounts of confetti and foam spray she went nuts at the crowd with during “California Gurls”, now if only Snoop had come out dressed as a Gummi Bear it would have made my life!
·         Acoustic cover of Rhianna’s “Only Girl in the World” Rebecca Black’s Friday and Jay Z’s “Big Pimpin” were awesome as was the cover of Whitney Houstons “Dance With Somebody”
RECOMMEND THIS ? For Sure. This is a perfect GIRLS NIGHT OUT!
